Happy Fourth to everyone! I posted pictures from the Fourth of July, 2008, when Angie and Camilo were with us for just 4 days. This is one of my favorite holidays because of the summer fun and family. The traditions of cooking out, good food on the grill and then the pilgrimage to Newton Falls for the fireworks fill my mind. There is no doubt that today will be hard. I was prepared to miss the holiday but, then when things seemed to start moving so swiftly I thought that maybe I might make it. Then we got the news that Sentencia should have been “late” last week and I knew I wouldn’t make it but then readjusted my thinking to that at least I would be well on my way to making it home. And now here we are still no definite. I worry that will have to endure another four days of waiting for news and to think about it is devastating. If it were just me it would be different but, I can tell the difference in Angie and Camilo too they want to go home. It’s also hard because when we Skype I see the difference in my children at home and it tears me up inside to see Mehli withdrawn on Jim’s lap as we Skype. I’ve been angry because we are now at two holidays here that everything shuts down and my understanding is that the Judge that needs to sign our papers was not in on Friday either. It somehow doesn’t seem fair or right that I am kept away from my family at home even longer while everyone here gets to enjoy theirs. I suppose I was naïve enough to think that since we hung in there for three years and jumps through the hoops and did everything they asked we would be blessed with a smooth transition here. Guess not.
So there really isn’t too much to report on the last week activity wise. I have simply run out of things to do. I suppose there are things but, the budget is also dwindling and we still have to get home. We’ve gone to the local park a few times to kick the soccer ball around and attempted to go to Simon Bolivar park yesterday but, there was a concert going on and it was shut down to the public. So we ended up in this park area next to it where people had tents and such set up everywhere to enjoy the music for free. We found a small patch of grass to kick the soccer ball around until we took a rest and it got taken over by others too. We then found another spot and played until Angie rolled her ankle and then we ended up going “home.”
So here’s hoping that this next week will bring us luck ad good news. I’m trying to put myself in a good place for what lies ahead, whatever it may be. Please send good vibes!
